MCR Fashion Industry: AW16 Metallica Party
A few weeks ago I received a direct message through my Instagram page from Domain Esdale of Manchester Fashion Industry (IG: mcrfashindustry) asking whether I would like to attend a secret fashion party. I had never met Domain, but was familiar with Manchester Fashion Industry after my collaboration with fashion blogger, Remi. Remi and Domain run Mcr Fashion Industry together and organise various fashion based parties, events and networking events, hoping to bring together Manchester's retail, fashion and beauty community. Of course I said yes, I was intrigued as to what the evening had in store.. especially as I have a background in fashion (I worked as a buyer before getting into photography), "fashiony" things tend to have an appeal. A few days after our brief Instagram conversation a Bloggers invite arrived for me plus a guest through the post looking all gold and shiny... Of course I had to photograph it ;-)The party was held at newly opened and rather swanky Menagerie Restaurant in Manchester's trendy Spinningfields. It was my first time going to this venue. At the door going into the venue, we were greeted by a woman dressed in gold on stilts - she told me that she would be doing some fire eating later - that was just the beginning. Inside the venue was a feast for the eyes. The decor at Menagerie is amazing! There was a trapeze artist popping all sorts of shapes dangling from the ceiling over a table of diners as well as a raised catwalk that had diners on either side below. The party was buzzing, it was full to capacity, everyone was all dressed up in their interpretation of the metallica theme from all out glam to a more casual vibe channeling the heavy metal group, Metallica. It was soooo busy, I honestly don't know how the waiters managed to get through the crowd with their trays of food...yes, they were still serving food. I found out later, there were 600 people in attendance. Will was my "plus one" for the the night...A bath full of glitter anyone? Why thank you ;-)The clothes from the fashion show were from luxury fashion retailer, Flannels and showcased a variety of designer brands from Dolce & Gabbana to Tom Ford. We managed to get a front row seat right by the catwalk thanks to a lovely couple who invited us to sit next to them. The clothes were amazing. As was the party in general, although we didn't make it to the after party at The Milton Club. My feet were tired... I had come straight from photographing a wedding in Bradford. That said, I will definitely be keeping an eye for other Manchester Fashion Industry parties, it was a fun night and an excuse to get dressed up and meet new people, the Flannels goodie bag also went down nicely too :-)Photography: Tanya WeekesVenue: MenagerieHosts: Manchester Fashion IndustryLocation: Manchester, England
