Hello From Taiwan!
Have you you ever had a thing that you've always wanted to do, but, for whatever reason, haven't? One of those, "I've always wanted to try that/go there/start XYZ..." Well for me, that thing was, living abroad. I love to travel and go to new places. Last year, I blogged about some of the places, I visited (Florence, Dubai, Brussels) but I have always been based in Manchester, England. I LOVE Manchester, but I always wondered what it might be like to live somewhere else. I love trying new things, I hope to have a life full of different experiences, I want to live life to the fullest and collect lots of different memories. Someone must have been listening, because an opportunity presented itself towards the end of last year which would mean me moving abroad and turning my daydream into a reality and so I have begun my new year, from a new base... Taiwan! EEEEK!! Here are a few pictures from my first weeks in Taiwan. Let the adventure begin! :-)
View from the roof top of our apartment, special thanks to Lin from Shane School (Toufen Branch) for helping us find it...
I've made the usual New Year Resolution of being "healthier". This year that has translated into me buying a juicer and having fresh juice in the mornings. So far I love it! This concoction is orange and carrot juice.
We have been eating a lot of vegetarian food while we have been in Taiwan, this dish was great! Although, still not sure whether or not I'm a big fan of tofu.
The landscape is beautiful! Look how high the mountains are! They look like clouds! For Christmas Day, we decided to head to the beach. On the way, we happened to walk past this happy family who invited us to sit, eat and drink with them. They didn't speak a word of English and we didn't speak any Chinese but we figured it out!The beach in neighbouring town, Jhunan.Christmas dinner was at a restaurant by the beach. It was great because you got to pick exactly which fish you want them to cook for you.I have re-newed my love for rucksacks! Makes it easier for me to take pictures on the go... The pictures in this post were taken using my Fuji X100t which I have blogged about previously, click here and here.Whilst walking around the area of Toufen, the small town where I am currently residing, my eye was caught by a huge statue of a man. I could see it standing or rather sitting proudly, above its neighbouring buildings. One afternoon I decided to have a closer look. I discovered that the statue is actually Wǔgǔ Xiāndì Gōng (五穀先帝宮) Temple in the neighbouring town of Zhunan and the statue represents the God of Agriculture, notice he is holding a bale of corn in his hand. We were invited to have a look inside and it was stunning.View from inside the temple looking out...My current read by Yasmin Mogahed...I will continue to photograph while I'm out in Taiwan and will still be available for weddings and portrait shoots. I'm excited to begin this new chapter of my life and I hope you will join me for the journey! :-)
