Travels: Florence, Italy
This week I caught a plane to Pisa and then a bus to Florence, Italy. It was the week of Pitti Uomo, the menswear trade show and the streets were even more awash with stylish men with their cool overcoats, suits and hats. I am more of a travel bunny than a street style photographer, so I took the opportunity to get lost in the narrow streets of Florence, soaking up as much beauty as I could in the short time I was there.I visited, the Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, which is one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and makes and sells lots of beautiful perfumes and colognes. The floor alone was amazing..On the side street next to the Gallery Hotel Art, I spotted this cool white bike...Gallery Art Hotel is unique because it is a regularly exhibits art work both inside and out. It's current installation features giant spoons clad on the outside wall by designer Simone D’Auria and pays tribute to the Expo2015 and its theme Feeding the planet. Some street art by famed French street artist, Clet Abraham...Not far from where I was staying was the Santa Maria del Fiore, the third largest church in the world. It was HUGE and amazingly stunning inside. The paintings inside the cathedral dome are amazing...When I was in Paris, France, I photographed the love locks that were on the Pont des Arts. I spotted lots of locks in Florence too... Although they weren't restricted to the bridge railings...Ponte Vecchio...I didn't make it inside the Ufizzi Gallery unfortunately, next time I hope.. but in the square just outside, there was also an amazing collection of statues...When I arrived, I was told that the view from the roof terrace at the Westin Hotel at night was amazing.. I have to agree.Florence, or rather Firenze, you are beautiful! I look forward to seeing you again... Until then, ciao!
