JAVEA, SPAIN PHOTOSHOOT: AKUA SENCHEREY

In December 2017, I photographed the very first LMDES Getaways retreat organised by travel resource Las Morenas De Espana which was created to empower and inspire others to take the leap and move abroad as well as helping people to create a life they love with purpose and without bounds. The retreat is located in Jávea (also known as Xabia), Spain on the northern Coasta Blanca, the East Coast of Spain. Sienna Brown, the group’s creator asked me to come back and photograph their second retreat which took place in May 2018. This time, around, Sienna wanted me to focus more on portraits which was great and allowed me to take natural light portraits of the beautiful women that attending.

Akua Sencherey was one of the first women I photographed out of the group of women on the retreat on the second day of the five day retreat. Akua is from Texas, America of Ghanian descent and currently working in Mexico. I can talk about how stunning Akua is but what stuck me the most is her upbeat and carefree spirit and her enthusiasm to make a lasting positive difference in the world. She entertained the group with her dance moves and zest for life. On the last day, she was the last one on the dance floor even though she was the one that had to be up the earliest to leave for the airport – that’s #goals right there!
